Amy Shark a musical magnet at Brisbane Showgrounds

Summer festival fever is continuing to take over the Brisbane Showgrounds, with St Jerome’s Laneway Festival kicking off tomorrow.

Almost 10,000 music fans are expected to attend the event, to see a 37 strong national and international line-up including Australia’s very own ARIA award-winning Amy Shark, Canada’s Mac Demarco, Odesza from the United States and the UK’s Wolf Alice.

Amy Shark is one of the main drawcards, after taking the music scene by storm with her three times platinum single ‘Adore.’

The popular music festival is known for unearthing ‘the next big thing’ in music, with megastar Lorde performing in 2014, Florence and the Machine taking to the stage in 2015 and Grammy award-winner Flume entertaining the crowds in 2016.

Brisbane Showgrounds General Manager of Venue Sales and Marketing Jago Coyle said Laneway Festival had a long history at the Showgrounds and was celebrating its 10th anniversary at the venue this year.

“Laneway is one of Australia’s most popular music festivals and we’re thrilled they’ve been holding the Queensland leg of their annual tour at the Showgrounds since 2008,” he said.

“The Brisbane Showgrounds is Queensland’s home of summer music. More than 3,000 people attended Electric Gardens with Fatboy Slim in late January, while Goodlife Festival is expecting around 10,000 people on March 3.

St Jerome’s Laneway Festival gets underway at 11am.

The Brisbane Showgrounds precinct is located just 1.5km from Brisbane’s CBD. For more information about the Brisbane Showgrounds visit
