CITROEN CENTENARY TO BE CELEBRATED AT MOTORCLASSICA 2019By EEAA, 15 July, 2019One hundred years of France’s most innovative vehicle marque, Citroen, will be celebrated at this year’s Motorclassica, the Australian International Concours d’Elegance and classic motor show which also marks its own 10th anniversary in 2019.Set to be staged at Melbourne’s World Heritage-listed Royal Exhibition Building, Motorclassica is Australasia’s premier annual exhibition of rare, classic, collectible and significant cars and motorcycles.Motorclassica 2019 will pay tribute to Citroen with a specially selected centenary display of 17 iconic cars ranging from the very first Type A two-door cabriolet model of 1920 through to the seminal Maserati-engined SM in a display that will also include a few surprises.Citroen Australia Managing Director, Ben Farlow, said Motorclassica provides the ideal platform to celebrate Citroen’s 100th anniversary.“During 2019 Citroen is celebrating its 100th year via a number of events. Motorclassica is the ideal opportunity for us to celebrate a centenary of innovation while providing us with the opportunity to connect with enthusiasts via our latest vehicles,” Mr Farlow said.“While not all can be revealed yet, there will be a few surprises in store for Citroen fans and car enthusiasts attending Motorclassica,” he added. The display will also include an example of the first vehicle to circumnavigate mainland Australia, a 1923 Citroen 5CV – the original of which resides in Canberra’s National Museum of Australia.“In the history of the automobile it’s arguable, indeed probable, that Citroen has been the most innovative of all car manufacturers,” Motorclassica Event Director, Paul Mathers, said.“It has been responsible for so many innovative and now-iconic models, like the Traction Avant, the 2CV, DS, CX, Mehari, the SM, the C6 and so many more.“Alongside our tribute to its centenary it is fantastic to be able to welcome Citroen Australia to Motorclassica this year as an official partner and participant in the many activities we have planned,” Mr Mathers added. This year Citroen will host a display inside Motorclassica’s main hall showcasing its current models while visitors will be able to test drive the marque’s latest models at a pop-up activation in the Royal Exhibition Building’s eastern forecourt.Motorclassica 2019 will be held at the Royal Exhibition Building from 11-13 October. A range of regular and exciting new features planned for this year’s event will ensure it is not to be missed. For further information and to purchase tickets, visit www.motorclassica.com.auSource:Exhibitions and Trade Fairs
