Clean sweep for MCEC at Victorian MEA AwardsBy Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, 3 April, 2014Tuesday 1 April 2014Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) took home five awards at the prestigious 2013 Victorian Meetings and Events Australia (MEA) Industry Awards, held at EPICURE Hawthorn Arts Centre last night. The venue was awarded ‘Meeting Venue 500 delegates or more’, ‘Banqueting and Catering’, ‘In-house AV Services’ (for the fourth consecutive year) and ‘Business Development Person of the Year’ – Prue Rogers, Assistant Director of Sales. MCEC received further accolades with Internal Communications Coordinator Peter Lyons named winner of the MEA and Ungerboeck Software International Young Professional Scholarship. MCEC’s Chief Executive Peter King said the accolades reflect the venue’s valuable and significant contribution to the meetings and events industry. “MEA Awards give us the opportunity to benchmark our performance against the best in the industry and these wins are testament to our passionate, talented and hardworking MCEC team. “We’re proud to lead the way and deliver successful events for our customers through our incredible spaces, leading in-house technology, creative food and wine, and our people who have the skills and experience to bring it all together,” Mr King said.The venue’s performance was assessed across a range of business criteria and the year in review, which looked at financials, activities, challenges and impact on the meetings and events industry as a whole.
