National Skills Week with Ciaran Gribbin and SkillsOne

SkillsOne and Apprenticeship Support Australia have teamed up to bring employers and small business owners a showcase like never before, with Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter and lead singer of INXS, Ciaran Gribbin, joining us in celebrating National Skills Week 2017.

Hear Ciaran play a couple of songs and listen to his ideas and strategies on team building. Ciaran has worked with major corporates in Australia such as Commonwealth Bank, Westfield, Mojo and many more.

Skills and Thrills at the Western Sydney Apprenticeship and Traineeship Expo

SkillsOne will once again be taking careers advice out of the office and onto the stage, through an entertaining, informative and engaging showcase packed with live music, video and animation.

This year, the Skills and Thrills careers showcase is being presented in conjunction with the Western Sydney Apprenticeship & Traineeship Expo, with the aim to encourage students to undertake voctional eduational and training (VET) as an entry to a successful career path. The 2016 Expo attracted over 4000 attendees from the Greater Western Sydney region and 100 exhibitors, with this year aiming to build on this attendance and and take the event to a whole new level.

The FREE show will help students and parents discover and understand the latest on jobs of the future, industry trends and how to connect your passions to a successful career outcome.

SkillsOne will showcase a variety of in-demand Industry areas, with a focus on the needs of NSW, including:

  • Tourism, Hospitality & Events
  • Retail & Service Sectors
  • Building & Construction
  • Community Services & Healthcare
  • Digital, IT & STEM
  • Creative Industries
  • Agriculture
  • Government jobs
  • Service sectors

Countdown to National Skills Week 2017

National Skills Week (NSWk) is the focal point for the promotion of Australia’s Vocational Education and Training sector (VET). Each year the week continues to celebrate and inform students and the wider public of the diversity and career pathways available through VET. The week, (August 28th – September 3rd, 2017) will communicate the emerging trends and new growth drivers connecting skills training with job outcomes. Details for state launches are listed below.

Central Coast Expo TAFE NSW Awards Spark Your Interest
The Central Coast Career Pathways Expo gives students the opportunity to gather information from over 200 exhibitors about the careers, courses & jobs they are interested in. The Expo attracted over 4,000 Year 10, 11 & 12 students from across the Central Coast. The TAFE NSW Excellence Awards recognises the students and graduates who have been nominated by their teachers and chosen for their exemplary academic achievements, leadership qualities, commitment to their industry and exceptional attitude to learning. Students at TAFE NSW Newcastle share their experience of how they were able to connect their passion for electronics to a successful career pathway by undertaking a Certificate III in Electronics and Communications and gaining an apprenticeship.
