COVID-19 SAFE OPERATING FRAMEWORKThe EEAA industry-wide COVID-19 Safe Operating Framework outlines best-practice health and safety protocols that the industry can follow and incorporate with their own COVIDSafe plans to facilitate the safe return of business events. The EEAA is committed to best-practice industry standards and the Safe Operating Framework has been developed to ensure the safe delivery and operation of exhibitions and business events across Australia. The Framework outlines the principles EEAA members can choose to adopt to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 over all stages of an event – move-in and build, arrival and registrations, event operations and bump-out. The number one priority of the exhibition and events industry is the health and safety of everyone who attends and participates in-person at trade and consumer shows, conferences and meetings. The COVID-19 Safe Operating Framework forms the second phase of the EEAA #ExpoReady social media campaign, designed to instil confidence and to communicate to exhibitors, associated businesses and the consumer that exhibitions are ready to open their doors, and to do it safely. The EEAA COVID-19 Safe Operating Framework has been designed in line with current Australian Government health guidelines to prevent transmission of COVID-19.The Framework provides over-arching principles to deliver COVID-19 Safe business events, trade and consumer shows of all sizes covering four key categories:Physical DistancingCleaning, hygiene and environment managementProtect & DetectCommunicationAccess the Framework here. The Framework will further demonstrate the industry is ready and capable of hosting exhibitions and events in a controlled environment, complying and evolving with the new health and safety standards, while also delivering engaging experiences that deliver a return on investment for exhibitors, sponsors, speakers, attendees and visitors. These principles provide a COVID-19 Safe Operating Framework that industry members pledge to adopt in the delivery of an event. The information provided relates to/applies to any additional venue, supplier, or organiser’s COVID-19 policies.Thank you to our contributors:Many thanks to the following EEAA Members who have worked collaboratively to produce the Framework: Simon Cooper, Interpoint & Intermedia Group; Paul Elliott, Harry the hirer; Sharon Friedman, Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre; Domenic Genua, Boating Industry Association; Darryl Jeffrey, Sydney Showground; David Longman, Diversified Communications and Stephen Steenson, Reed Exhibitions Australia.GOVERNMENT FRAMEWORK FOR NATIONAL REOPENINGThe Australian Government Department of Health released The Framework for National Reopening on 23 October.
