Dockside Group hosts Miss Universe Australia National Launch

A gown inspired by Australia’s iconic beaches, surf and sand, paraded by current Miss Universe Australia Olivia Wells yesterday, was the dress selected to represent Australia at the 2013 International Miss Universe Pageant in Russia in November.

Dockside Group’s harbour side venue L’Aqua hosted the media launch and parade which saw the fashion industry’s who’s who out in force to see the winning design which will be seen by over one billion people at the international pageant.

After a week of public voting, Jason Chetcuti’s interpretation of Australia’s coast line was crowned the winner and paraded down a red carpet, surrounded by giant chandeliers, which stretched the entire length of L’Aqua.

Dockside Group partnered with Miss Universe Australia to showcase the four Australian designed finalist gowns as it was the perfect venue for the event’s requirements.

Miss Universe Australia National Director, Deborah Miller said L’Aqua and the Dockside Group staff created the perfect atmosphere for their event.

“It was a fantastic experience being able to showcase fantastic Australian designers at L’Aqua. The pillarless space was a blank canvas, which for the fashion industry, is essential; the gowns must be the focus.

“Sitting right on the edge of Darling Harbour, it was the perfect backdrop framed by the floor to ceiling windows that run the length of the space, we were delighted with the hospitable experience.”

The Face of Australia Cosmetics Competition winner was announced live on Channel 7’s Sunrise. The media launch at L’Aqua followed where the fashion show was live streamed by Impact AV around the globe on Dockside Group TV.
