DOCKSIDE GROUP REAFFIRMS FOCUS ON BUSINESS EVENTS AT DARLING HARBOUR

By Dockside Group, 8 April, 2013

Dockside Group, owner of multiple harbour side venues, has reasserted its focus on business events with a renewed strategy to protect the business interests of the community of Darling Harbour during the precinct’s re-development.

Headed by Managing Director Chris Drivas and incoming Director of Sales and Marketing Beverly Parker, the strategy will involve a two-pronged approach; first, the repositioning of the Darling Harbour precinct Dockside Group venues L’Aqua, Dockside and Star Room with an emphasis on corporate and business events, and second, to further support the entire business community via its work with key stakeholders.

Mr Drivas believes Dockside Group’s sharpening of focus will be an important factor in ensuring Darling Harbour remains a vibrant and active precinct after the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre commences its three-year redevelopment phase in December 2013.

“Our venues are an important part of the energy and activity of Darling Harbour. We believe a determined focus on corporate and business events will help support businesses of the precinct to maintain their operations during this time,” said Mr Drivas.

Speaking about his role with the Darling Harbour Business Association, which he has been a board member of for five years, Mr Drivas reveals his personal passion for the area.

“We’ve been a part of the fabric of this internationally renowned location since it opened to the public in 1989. Together with our colleagues at the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority (SHFA) and our local business community, we are committed to playing our part in ensuring this area remains vibrant and alive,” said Mr Drivas.

Beverley Parker says part of Dockside Group’s continued success has been its unique business model of building and managing venues that provide guests with a holistic experience.

“Dockside Group properties all boast exceptional water views, and are within walking distance of shops, outlets, activities and hotels. The combined offering delivers a unique event experience for clients and their delegates. This combined offering will remain a guiding force for us as we roll out our new plans to the business events sector over the coming months,” said Ms Parker.
