Dockside Group responds to ‘Asian Century’ opportunity for business events

The Australian Government’s White Paper on the Asian Century declared that ‘Asia’s rise is changing the world’. In response to this, Dockside Group are proactively working to align their business objectives in order to leverage this changing context; seeing it as a major opportunity for growth in the business events industry.


 Dockside Group exceeded expectations when they hosted 3000 Chinese delegates over six nights at their restaurants at The Rocks; Waterfront, Wolfies and Italian Village, as part of the Perfect China incentive to Sydney last month.


Building on the success of this event, Beverley Parker, Executive Director of Sales & Marketing and Sandra Swan, Director of International Sales will attend CIBTM; China’s leading meetings, incentives and business travel exhibition taking place from 2 – 4 September 2013 at the China National Convention Centre (CNCC), Beijing, China.


 “The team has demonstrated time and time again they understand what the Chinese market in particular is looking for in their business events held in Australia.


“Our experience and harbour side locations make a great combination for this market and we are pursuing all opportunities with earnest,” said Ms Parker.


With a growing middle class in China and increasing numbers of Chinese incentives planned for Sydney, Dockside Group will be showcasing their restaurants and function venues’ harbour side position, world-class cuisine and generosity as a major drawcard for inbound tourists and event attendees to Australia.


 Dockside Group has had their restaurant and venue menus translated into simplified Mandarin to ensure a higher level of service allowing Chinese travellers to feel at ease in a foreign country. To further facilitate direct communication with the Chinese business travel and tourism market, Dockside Group has joined China’s largest social media provider, Weibo.
