EARLY SUMMER DAY HERALDS THE LAUNCH OF

THE SYDNEY INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW

AT ITS NEW HOME @ GLEBE ISLAND

 

Sydney put on a spectacular summer day to herald the opening of the 47th Sydney International Boat Show by the NSW Deputy Premier, Andrew Stoner.  The city was sparkling under clear skies and a slight breeze, the perfect weather for boating enthusiasts.

 

Minister Andrew Stoner cut the red ribbon at the event which is expected to attract 60,000 people over the next 5 days.

 

He paid tribute to the EEAA and the exhibition industry which had worked closely with the NSW Government to ensure exhibitions could continue while the new ICC Sydney at Darling Harbour was under construction.

 

EEAA Chief Executive, Joyce DiMascio, congratulated the NSW Boating industry Association on overcoming the mighty challenge of holding the show across two harbour side locations – Cockle Bay Marina and Sydney Exhibition Centre @ Glebe Island.

 

“This event is the biggest consumer exhibition that will be hosted at Glebe Island – and the opening of the show today is a fine achievement and a testament to the power of teamwork.”

 

“We congratulate all those involved – the team at the BIA, the venue, the NSW Government and its agencies. It has been a big project and we commend those who rolled up their sleeves to support the boating industry to ensure the Sydney International Boat Show could continue to operate in Sydney,” Ms Joyce DiMascio said.

 

“Exhibitions and events are big drivers of the NSW economy and we are very pleased that this message is resonating strongly with the NSW Deputy Premier, Andrew Stoner who has been instrumental in supporting our industry.”

 

The Sydney International Boat Show generates $5 million of business every hour over the five days of the show. It is an economic powerhouse.

 

EEAA President and Boating Industry Association Marketing & Events Manager, Domenic Genua, said the exhibition at Sydney Exhibition Centre @ Glebe Island looked magnificent and exhibitors were looking forward to the next five days of doing business.

 

He said the event was also a valuable platform for launching new technologies with many companies showcasing their export-ready gear and technology.

 

The Sydney International Boat Show is the biggest public show to be held at Sydney Exhibition Centre @ Glebe Island so far after its opening in February this year.
