AUSTRALIA’S LOVE AFFAIR WITH FOOD EVENTS ON THE MENU
FOR EEAA 2015 CONFERENCE

The Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) has released key details of its final events for 2015 with the announcement that former Good Food Month festival director, Joanna Savill, will head the speaker line-up for the Association’s annual conference to be held in Sydney on 2 December.

EEAA Chief Executive, Joyce DiMascio, said the Association was honoured to have one of Australia’s most respected food personalities anchor the event and deliver a keynote address on Australia’s love affair with food and food events.

“We are delighted to have secured Joanna Savill for this conference. Joanna is an international star in the food media and events world,” she said.

“At Fairfax Events she was at the helm of one the biggest and most successful food events in Australia. She was also the longest-serving editor of the prestigious The Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide.

Joanna’s knowledge of food worshippers and the power of “content” are outstanding. She will speak about the evolution of a food community – from inception to evolution, engaging audiences and industry, and creating lots of delicious content along the way. Australians are in love with food events. In 2014, more than two million of them attended Fairfax Media's Good Food Month, alone.

The conference will also focus on a range of case studies and subjects designed to future-proof the exhibition and events sector. The speakers will come from inside and outside the exhibition industry with the sessions designed to challenge, educate and inspire attendees.

Other speakers confirmed for the event are Paul Greenberg, Executive Chairman and CEO of NORA.org.au, The Voice of New Retail in Australia, and Fiona Lake, Marketing Manager of the ABC’s Triple J.

Paul will be speaking about the connected customer – and how to get to the heart of how they think and act. Paul is a pioneer of online retailing and the founder and former CEO of DealsDirect.

Paul is a guru in the online retailing world and he understands the interplay between events, traditional and online retailing – he has an exceptionally strategic perspective and understands what it takes to convert customers.

Fiona is a talented marketer who knows about winning over younger audiences. She’ll deliver a case study on how the ABC has used live events to drive audiences to Triple J.

Ms DiMascio said engaging younger audiences is a challenge for the exhibition sector so the Association looks forward to learning from the Triple J experience.

“The three key speakers announced today have a track-record of delivering results in marketing across diverse industry segments. The conference will provide an opportunity for our delegates to “borrow” from the learnings and experiences outside our immediate world.”

The Association’s four final events for 2015 are:

  • EEAA 2015 Leaders Forum, Royal Randwick, 1 December 2015 (by invitation only)
  • EEAA 2015 Conference Welcome Reception, Royal Randwick, 1 December 2015

EEAA also announced Tradevent Solutions as the Registration Partner for the EEAA 2015 Leaders Forum, Conference and Awards for Excellence. They will be working with the EEAA to deliver the 2015 program.
