EEAA KICKS OFF ROAD-SHOW IN QUEENSLAND, TOP LINE-UP OF INDUSTRY EXPERTS TO MENTOR YOUNG STARSBy Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia, 8 August, 2014MEDIA RELEASE 8 August 2014 EEAA KICKS OFF ROAD-SHOW IN QUEENSLAND,TOP LINE-UP OF INDUSTRY EXPERTS TO MENTOR YOUNG STARS Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) Board met with Members in Brisbane on Tuesday as part of the EEAA Member Round-Tables being held around the country. EEAA Chief Executive, Joyce DiMascio, said the Association was holding special forums for members in Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria and also at Inspire Ex in Sydney. “The series of Round-Table events allows us to reach out to members and discuss issues affecting each State as well as present the latest news about the Association’s advocacy work, recent campaigns, and EEAA research and industry trends. At the Queensland event, EEAA Members also heard from Annabel Sullivan, Director Convention Bureau at Brisbane Marketing about the November G20 Leaders Summit and what this meant for Brisbane. Sandra Passaro, Director – Business and Strategic Events, Tourism and Events Queensland also provided an update on the Queensland bid fund and convention bureau funding. “Brisbane Marketing has a range of strong campaigns and initiatives that really show-off the city’s capabilities on a global scale,” said Ms DiMascio. “The Association was pleased to hear that Queensland Tourism and Events recognises the economic contribution of trade exhibitions and invites the six convention bureaux that it funds to report on this indicator when it apportions funding.” In Melbourne – the EEAA focussed the round-table on issues around Copyright and Intellectual Property. Ms DiMascio said Melbourne-based Members took part in a special session with leading Clayton Utz lawyers – Partner, Chris McLeod and Senior Lawyer, James Neil – to address industry issues raised with the Association on Copyright and Intellectual Property. This month, EEAA will take their Road Show to Perth and Adelaide where Members will also hear about EEAA’s plans with Austrade, the Demand Driver Infrastructure Program and what this could mean for our sector. To attend these events contact [email protected] In a separate event, EEAA has secured a top line-up of industry leaders to mentor EEAA Members on Sales, Marketing and Business Development. Malu Barrios, General Manager, Sydney Exhibition Centre @ Glebe Island; Ruby Chronis, Director – Sales & Marketing, Australian Technology Park; Ian Ferguson, Business Development Manager – Exhibitions, Harry the Hirer; Rebecca Hughes, Strategic Business Development Manager, Sydney Showground; and James Laing, Head of Sponsorship & Insights, Diversified Communications will share their insight into Sales, Marketing and Business Development as it relates to venue sales, exhibition sales, and sponsorship. “Our presenters have an outstanding track-record of achievement in sales and partnerships,” said Ms DiMascio “Their experiences, the strategies they adopt and the lessons they have learned in their successful careers will be inspiring and beneficial for the professional development of our younger Members. “Our young staff are the future of our industry and we must invest in their growth and in fostering pride in working in our sector.” Ms DiMascio said the EEAA Professional Development Seminar will be held at Sydney Exhibition Centre @ Glebe Island during Inspire EX – the premier trade exhibition dedicated to event industry professionals in Australia.
