EEAA SAYS THANK YOU TO THE WOMEN IN OUR INDUSTRY ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2016By Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia, 8 March, 2016Today, I was honoured to join EEAA Member, Australian Technology Park Sydney, for the official breakfast of UN Women honouring International Women's Day. Two thousand people gathered to hear the compelling reasons why we should all work together to bring an end to violence against women and discrimination in the workplace. No matter where we sit in the corporate ladder or within our communities, we all have a responsibility to promote environments that enable women to flourish. Apart from being the right thing to do – it also makes economic sense. Companies that have diverse boards, that promote women and that create flexible workplaces for women and men, do better. Our industry is filled with many capable women – the EEAA Young Stars program showcases the talented young women who have made working in the exhibition sector their career choice. It's not unusual at our Young Stars events, to have a room full of mostly women. What a great talent pool for our industry – what a great talent pool of future leaders. Today, as we celebrate International Women's Day, EEAA says thank you to the talented, strong, capable women in our industry. We call on you all to be proactive in creating workplaces where they can flourish at every stage of their career. I ask you all to revisit your policies and behaviours and ensure that women are given every opportunity to shine, to succeed and to be recognised.
