Event Type Trade

EEAA will be holding a EEAA Young Stars & Leaders Table in Sydney with The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry’s (UFI) Managing Director, Kai Hattendorf and Regional Manager for Asia/Pacific, Mark Cochrane.

This is a truly unmissable opportunity for our Young Stars to gain first-hand insights into the world exhibitions and events and be mentored by two global leaders.

It is Mr Hattendorf’s first visit to Australia since joining the UFI in late 2015 and seven years since the global body has visited Australia.

Mr Hattendorf is a true champion of business events. He is a new breed of association CEO driving many changes in UFI and this visit to Australia is an example of his willingness to engage with the EEAA and UFI Members in this part of the world to explore new ideas and opportunities. He is highly experienced with a worldview of the business events sector. These views are informed by his work at UFI and also from working in places such as Messe Frankfurt – a major international venue and industry player, responsible for organising events in around 50 countries each year.

The EEAA is honoured to provide our Young Stars with an unmissable opportunity to sit alongside the global CEO of the exhibition and event industry at the next Young Stars & Leaders Table.

Kai Hattendorf is CEO and Managing Director of UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, since 2015. He is responsible for all UFI activities and events, as well as the operation of its three offices in Paris, Hong Kong and Sharjah. Prior to his current role, Kai worked in the exhibition industry for a number of years in senior management positions at Messe Frankfurt’s global headquarters, focusing on transformational issues ranging from digitisation to marketing and communications.

Mark Cochrane is the UFI Regional Manager, Asia Pacific. He is also the Managing Director of Business Strategies Group (BSG), a business intelligence and strategy consulting firm focused on the B2B media industry in Asia – with a particular emphasis on exhibitions and events in Asia. Through its consulting practice and its relationship with UFI, BSG works with major exhibition organisers, venues and governments across Asia. Mark has been based in Hong Kong for 20 years and joined BSG in 2006.

Our EEAA Young Stars Program invests in the growth of younger workers in exhibitions and events, and in fostering pride for working in our sector. Our Leaders Table sessions aim to build a strong community for the under 35 year olds in the Association and give younger Members exclusive access to top mentors and leaders, both from within and outside our industry.

The program is supported by industry partners including Tourism Australia, Ungerboeck Software International and Reed Exhibitions. Read more about the EEAA Young Stars and stay tuned for more details on this upcoming event.
