Federal Technical & Regulatory Industry Symposium

By Caravan and Camping Industry Association NSW, 6 November, 2017

In an effort to drive a better understanding of federal obligations within the caravanning and camping industry, Caravan Industry Association of Australia is running a one day Federal Technical & Regulatory Industry Symposium aimed to update the industry on current issues of importance.

The event will be held on November 9, 2017, at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre in Melbourne.

Headlining topics for the day will be obligations under the Australian Consumer Law, the new Road Vehicle Standards Act and what this means for Industry, and common issues identified out of RVMAP inspections including; payload, the importance of VIN plate information, how accessories impact on over-width, rear overhang, tyre ratings and load distribution.

Getting product to market in a technological world and a working demonstration on how businesses can access all 9000 Australian Standards will feature during the day. There will also be sessions around Service & Repair Accreditation and the National Caravan Industry Training College.  All participants attending will receive a Certificate of Attendance from the College as well as 28 Professional Development Points.

The symposium is targeted to warranty and service managers, production supervisors, and the business owners of manufacturers, retail dealerships and service repair agents.

Stuart Lamont said “In today’s ever-changing and litigious environment, it is important for Industry to fully understand what their obligations are at a Federal level.  RVMAP has seen an incredible reduction in the amount of issues identified in the marketplace and we aim to continue to see this trend continue.  This symposium is a great way to bring a whole range of federal issues and our learnings of what is now over 1000 inspections annually together in a full one day.”

Scott Baker, RV Industry Portfolio Leader for Wells Fargo CDF ANZ is excited to be Principal Sponsor for the event.
“Wells Fargo CDF ANZ has been partnering with manufacturers and dealers in the RV industry for more than 35 years.  We understand that staying abreast of industry trends and challenges is key for us to continue to deliver for our customers.  Integral to this, is our involvement in events such as the Federal Technical & Regulatory Industry Symposium and the National Conference,” said Scott.

“As part of Wells Fargo CDFs wider commitment to helping our customers succeed financially, we have introduced CDF Connect.  This platform provides our customers with a wealth of knowledge, innovation solutions, and invaluable services to help their businesses grow.  We are excited to be involved in the Federal Technical & Regulatory Industry Symposium as part of this initiative.”

Other sponsors for the event include Dometic, Outdoria, and the National Caravan Industry Training College.  A small trade exhibition will also be available during the day for delegates to peruse some new products available within the industry.
