Global honour for former Adelaide Convention Centre bossBy Adelaide Convention Centre, 4 November, 2013Founding CEO of the Adelaide Convention Centre, Pieter van der Hoeven, has been honoured for his contribution to the global meetings industry. He has been awarded honorary life membership of the world’s foremost conventions industry body, the International Congress and Conventions Association (ICCA). Mr van der Hoeven was president of ICCA between 1994 and 1998 and help pave the way for China’s inclusion in the organisation in 1997. He was at the helm of the Adelaide Convention Centre for 21 years until 2006 and was instrumental in bringing the prestigious ICCA world congress to Adelaide in 1990. In recent years, he and business partner Gary Kieseker, operating as PG International Consulting, have worked on a number of international and domestic convention centre-related developments in cities including Moscow, Kuching, Port Elizabeth (South Africa) and Melbourne.
