Global Links Exhibitions & Conferences Organisers, an international exhibition organiser with operations in London, Dubai, Shanghai, Kolkata and Manila and a portfolio of industry leading events in 14 countries, today announced it has acquired Cake Bake & Sweets Show as its first entry into the Australian market

Launched by National Media in 2014, Cake Bake & Sweets Show established itself as the largest gathering of consumers passionate about all things baking, cake decorating and sweets in the Southern Hemisphere. The exhibition combines interactive cooking demonstrations, celebrity chefs, hands on classes and a large exhibition.

National Media Event Director Brad Langton commented, “when almost 20,000 visitors turned up at Sydney Showgrounds for the first Cake Bake & Sweets Show in 2014, we knew this was a community that needed a live and experiential event. Melbourne quickly topped that and Cake Bake & Sweets was born as a national event.”

Capturing the imagination of the country, and a fanbase of over 70,000 on Facebook alone, major brand supporters include Coles, Foxtel, KitchenAid, Nestle, Devondale, CSR, Dr Oetker, Queen Fine Foods, Equal, Bakels, Loyal and many more.

Global Links Exhibitions have appointed industry stalwart James Laing as Portfolio Director of their Australian ventures. James brings with him more than 17 years experience working on and leading many of Australia’s largest food & beverage events including the Good Food & Wine Show, Fairfax’s Good Food Month and the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival.

Laing says the Cake Bake & Sweets Show was an attractive event to enter the Australian market with. “It’s exciting to add the show to the Global Links international portfolio and we are looking forward to building on the strong foundations that have been laid down by Brad and the team at National Media”.

Laing added that the focus would remain on delivering a fan experience that celebrates their passion for baking, cake decorating and all things sweet moving forward.
