IT’S OFFICIAL: AUSTRALIANS ARE BESOTTED WITH THEIR DOGS, AS THOUSANDS ATTEND 1ST EVER DOG LOVERS

By Event Management International, 31 May, 2013

Canine enthusiasts turned up in unprecedented numbers to the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton where the inaugural Dog Lovers Show took place from 3 to 5 May.

The world-first event celebrating the unconditional love we share with our best friends saw over 20,000 dog lovers (including kids!) stream through the doors in just three days to enjoy the entertainment and education on a scale not seen before in Australia.

Education was a strong focus of the show with a wide range of packed out Educational Seminars presented by the industry’s leading experts including Dr Jack Ayerbe, Dr Emma Whiston, Tony Knight and Gabrielle Carter.

Puppy School classes were also popular with kids, providing them with all the information they need when arriving home with their new puppy. There was also over 200 Exhibitors, the new Archie Bark Prize art competition, Dog Rescue Zone, Breed Showcase and the star of the Show being the 400+ dogs on show of all different shapes, sizes and breeds from Bernese Mountain Dogs to Chow Chows and Griffon Bruxellois.

The Main Arena also wowed dog lovers featuring hands-on training tips and high-energy dancing, herding and working dog demonstrations with Dr Katrina Warren and her team of Wonderdogs, Farmer Dave and some of Australia’s most talented pooches.

Dog Lovers Show Founder and Director, Jason Humphris, said the show was an extraordinary success and demonstrated just how much Australians care about the dogs in their lives. “It’s been 3 years in the making but a labour of love and we’d like to thank the thousands of dog lovers that turned out in their droves from across the country to celebrate and learn more about our canine friends on a scale never before seen in Australia. After 3 years in the making, it was wonderful to see so much 'doggy-love' in one room, smiling kids, wagging tails, packed out seminars and applause & laughter in the main arena! A.”

The Dog Lovers Show will return to Melbourne from May 2-4 in 2014 and plans are underway to bring the event to other major capital cities. For additional information visit the website at: www.dogloversshow.com.au
