"The exhibition and event industry offers a rich and diverse range of career opportunities."

Jobs and careers

The exhibition and event industry offers exciting opportunities and career pathways for a vast array of personalities and skill sets. If you have an interest or passion for events, we encourage you to explore a career in this sector.

EEAA in partnership with TAFE NSW and Apprenticeships Support Australia, has developed industry traineeships that deliver fit-for-purpose training and skill development for school leavers and people starting out in their careers.

Are you looking to join this dynamic and fulfilling industry?

Events and exhibitions are:

Exciting – we have the opportunity to work on shows from every conceivable industry sector including Oz Comic-Con, Motorclassica, The Sydney International Boat Show, CeBIT Australia, Good Food & Wine Show, Fitness Show, Australian International Airshow, Dog Lovers Show and Hair Expo Australia.

Dynamic – there are many different career paths you can choose, from organising these important and exciting shows, to working in the venues that host them or being part of the supplier teams that create the magic and help deliver the visitor experience.

There are roles in event operations, sales, marketing, administration, design, AV and production, freight and logistics, stand build and construction.

Purposeful – did you know that we contribute over $3.1 billion to the Australian economy? Our sector is vital to economic development, trade and export, employment, visitation and knowledge sharing. We contribute to the growth and sustainability of all Australia’s key economic pillars and help position our nation as a destination for business events.

TAFE NSW is pleased to offer a pre-employment training program for the exhibition and event industry. The traineeship program combines nationally accredited qualifications with on-the-job experience.

This pre-employment program allows you to experience the industry in a “hands on” environment. In addition to the industry work placement, you will visit a number of organisations including venues, exhibition and event organisers and key suppliers. It is the perfect opportunity to meet and network with industry professionals and gain an understanding of the career options and potential for employment in the sector.

The program takes place over two weeks starting Monday 4 December 2017. It includes workshops
and industry placement experience.

The workshops will be delivered over five days at TAFE NSW Ultimo, centrally located near Railway Square bus stop and Central Railway Station. Training is delivered with experienced trainers and industry guest speakers as well as field trips and site visits.

At the end of the training, participants will be allocated a five-day placement at an exhibition or event business. This will provide an invaluable opportunity to experience first-hand this dynamic sector, establish relationships and to understand potential future roles in the industry.
