An exciting and exceptional career opportunity has become available as Account Manager - Associations & Exhibitions. In the current landscape strong commercial acumen is required to drive recovery of the industry, along with an ability to conduct high level negotiations with senior level clients. With a strong focus on sales, you will bring your exposure and knowledge of the events industry to this rewarding and challenging position and join a dedicated, hardworking and outgoing team. You will be responsible for the implementation of a range of sales activities to generate association business (both national and international), and exhibition business whilst developing strong and long lasting stakeholder relationships and continued business success.


Your key areas of responsibility will include but not limited to:

  • Utilise a commercially minded approach to drive decisions to evaluate business
  • Effectively manage and further develop a portfolio of association and exhibition accounts across a wide cross section of market segments to retain and increase business and revenue
  • Implement strategic account management for a set portfolio of accounts including establishing productive, professional relationships with key personnel and proactively assess, clarify and validate customer needs on an ongoing bases
  • Ensure all existing and rotational business is retained for MCEC
  • Contribute to and participate in a range of sales strategies and activities, including sales calls, networking events and other relationship building activities
  • To source and secure new business opportunities for the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre
To be successful in the role, you will have:
  • Proven commercial acumen abilities and skill set to conduct high level negotiations
  • Previous experience in a similar, sales focused role, ideally from the events industry
  • A successful track record in interpreting and delivering client expectations and needs
  • Proven high level of interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills with the ability to do this at a senior level
  • Confident, motivated and outgoing outlook with a friendly and engaging style
  • High level of communication skills
