Description

ICC Sydney is a $1.5 billion development that has transformed the Darling Harbour precinct. The project delivered 35,000sqm of internal exhibition space, the largest commercial kitchen in the southern hemisphere, Australia’s largest ballroom, an open air event deck, and an 8000 seat entertainment theatre.

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced senior level Event Services Floor Manager on 12 month contract with a commencement date of Monday 30 July 2018.

This role will provide operational support to clients during events and act as the main point of contact for event stakeholders during an event regarding any issues, ensuring all requests are attended to and Centre policy and procedures adhered to.

 Responsibilities:

  • Be the Centre's main point of contact with clients during events.
  • Coordinate all arrangements related to assigned groups to ensure the success of the event and promote repeat business.
  • Identify and communicate the needs of the customer to other Centre departments to ensure proper service throughout the Centre's operation for assigned groups.
  • Monitor all operational activities, anticipate and rectify problems that may arise, ensuring liaison, delegation and negotiation with all operational departments with regard to effective delivery of ICC Sydney services on event day.
  • Work closely with the operational departments to ensure general image, presentation and responsiveness levels are achieved.
  • Monitor and control bump in/out, ensuring schedule is adhered to as planned in the scheduling meeting, issues/problems to be coordinated through the relevant departmental duty person.
  • Represent the Centre in welcoming VIPs on behalf of the senior management team in their absence.
  • Liaise with Freight & Logistics Manager with reference to activities of porters to ensure event and client needs are met and customer service is at the highest level.
  • Ensure all work activities and relevant information are recorded in Ungerboeck for monthly report.
  • Assist in rostering and allocation of staff to events.
  • Assist the Event Services Operations Manager and Senior Event Services Floor Manager as required. 
  • Allocation to the most demanding and complex events at the ICC
  • Liaison with Business Development Managers and Event Planners for operational matters on upcoming events
  • Escalation point for Floor Managers
  • Mentoring of Floor Managers
  • High level decision making within limited time constraints

Requirements

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years in a similar role
  • Degree in Events or Management preferred
  • Current working knowledge of the hospitality, convention and exhibition industry
  • Previous experience in a large venue, arena, stadium or similar facility
  • Ability to manage a team
  • Ungerboeck Systems proficient (preferred)
  • Flexibility to work across a 24/7 rotating roster
