Keeping safety and sustainability in focusBy Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia , 18 May, 2017On the eve of World Day for Safety and Health at Work, EEAA held a special workshop with WorkSafe Victoria to address safety at events. Riggers, stand build companies, labour hire contractors, venues organisers and associations joined us at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre to put the spotlight on this important area of work practice.Led by Ian Sandlant from Worksafe Victoria, the forum highlighted safety concerns within our industry and the importance of safe work practices. Ian touched on the typical events inspection process, what they look for including traffic management, working at heights and manual handling and induction and training.Sydney Sustainability Centre’s General Manager, Cameron Little also discussed how Members could focus on sustainability actions that result in a good return on investment – highlighting practices that can be adopted to help reduce waste and costs, ensure we meet our compliance and social obligations effectively, and help us provide value to customers and clients.Source:Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia
