SEASONS GREETINGS

On behalf of the team at the Darwin Convention Centre, I would like to wish everyone a safe and peaceful holiday season.

We have had an eventful year and are looking forward to an exciting 2018.  We are finishing off the season with some fantastic local events including the Henbury Corporate Luncheon and Darwin Symphony Orchestra at the Movies.

In 2018, we look forward to hosting the ANZ Association of Neurologists Annual Scientific Meeting, Northern Australia Food Futures Conference, 2018 Australian Pipelines and Gas Association Conference and Exhibition plus many more.  Keep checking the What’s On page on our website for the conferences and events confirmed for 2018.

The Darwin Convention Centre will be closed from December 23 and reopen on Monday 8 January.  We look to working with you in 2018.

NT BROLGA AWARD

The Darwin Convention Centre won the Business Event Venues category for the 2017 Brolga Northern Territory Tourism Awards, the highest accolade in the Northern Territory tourism industry.

The Business Event Venue category was judged on business strategies and outcomes, contribution to the tourism industry, customer service standards, sustainability and innovation. The judging panel comprises a cross section of industry experts, selected for their knowledge and experience.

One of the highlights in the award submission was that the Darwin Convention Centre achieved certification for ISO 22000, which ensures the Centre delivers the highest standard of food safety to its delegates.  The Centre is the only hospitality venue in the Northern Territory to achieve this certification for food safety management, demonstrating its commitment to being a world-class venue.  The Darwin Convention Centre also introduced more targeted marketing strategies to effectively reach national and international clients and installed a new LED external lighting system that can project 16 million different colours across the Centre.

The Darwin Convention Centre is now a finalist in the 2018 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards – the industry’s most prestigious event of the year, which will be hosted in Perth in February.

Delegates from around the world will come together to discuss topics and share ideas on issues such as homelessness, social and affordable housing and indigenous housing.

The three day conference is expected to attract up to 1,000 delegates from across Europe, America, Canada, Asia and New Zealand, as well as all states and territories in Australia. The conference will take place between 28 – 30 of August 2019.
