The Publish Awards

The National HR Summit has been held annually at Crystal Palace, Luna Park since 2010, and the venue was proud to host it once more in 2016. This year it was awarded the remarkable accolade of best business event in Australia, at the 20th annual Publish Awards held in Sydney on September 15.

450 guests attended the publishing industry night of nights, at which awards presented in 34 categories. The National HR Summit was awarded the coveted Event of the Year (Business) for its Luna Park staged conference of 2016.

The Summit

The National HR Summit began in 2002, and will celebrate its 15th year in 2017, again held at Luna Park’s Crystal Palace in March. The conference takes place over two days with more than 300 delegates and 26 exhibitors. Guest speakers in 2016 included Mia Freedman, co-founder of Mamamia Women’s Network, Major General Rick Burr, Deputy Chief of Army in the Australian Army and Holly Ransom, CEO of Emergent, among others.

Luna Park Venues successfully housed a wide range of exhibitors including businesses such as ELMO, Skillsoft, sgfleet, ConnX, Frontier Software, IBM Australia Limited, AustralianSuper and Corporate Citizen.

347 delegates were hosted by 12 staff across the two day event, serving meals and drinks, assisting exhibitors and going the extra mile for all delegates to ensure a sensational summit that built upon the success of its previous years. Having hosted the event six times now, Luna Park Venues capably preempted any potential pitfalls and hurdles, resulting in an event executed smoothly and with utmost professionalism.

More than just a conference space

The venue not only hosted a fruitful and successful corporate conference, but provided fun beyond the business, with exhibitors receiving complimentary ride passes to enjoy the thrills of Luna Park’s amusement rides and a chance to explore the legendary precinct and admire its spectacular harbourfront location.

 

Exhibitors and delegates also made the most of Luna Park’s unique location, with many taking to social media to post images of the park and its surrounds. Conference attendees used hashtags #hrsummitau and #hrsummit_au to publish images and text on Instagram and Twitter. User-generated content like this is a fantastic measure of how beneficial it can be to host an event or conference at Luna Park, with the popular views, rides, catering and proximity to the harbour.

 

The National HR Summit is also a fantastic opportunity for Luna Park Venues to showcase its reputed catering services. The conference package menu included
a gourmet sandwich bar with smoked chicken, Greek wraps, roast beef, cured ham and more, as well as a “walk and fork” menu offering chicken ragout with preserved lemon, soft polenta semi-dried tomato and Sicilian green olives. Breakfast included canapés, a coffee cart, blueberry and Greek yoghurt, baked quails egg in speck, smoked salmon and egg roulade and crumbed haloumi with tomato relish among other selections.
