NEW PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS ANNOUNCED AT EEAA AGMBy Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia, 30 May, 2013MEDIA RELEASE29 May 2013 NEW PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS ANNOUNCED AT EEAA AGM AND CONTINUED STRONG INDUSTRY ADVOCACY FOCUS The Exhibition and Events Association of Australasia (EEAA) has announced the appointment of Domenic Genua, from the Boating Industry Association of NSW as its new President following the Annual General Meeting held at Doltone House in Sydney last week. Mr Genua has served on the Board of the Association for 11 years including as Treasurer. “It is an honour to be invited to take on the role of President for the EEAA at such a crucial time for this industry and I look forward to helping the association evolve to its next stage as the voice of all those who work in the exhibition sector.” he said. Domenic Genua is the Marketing and Events Manager at the Boating Industry Association of NSW and brings high-level knowledge and skill to the Presidency. He has steered the Sydney International Boat Show from strength to strength, and will present the 46th show at the Sydney Exhibition and Convention Centre in August this year. Matt Pearce held the role of President for the last five years and will continue to play an active role on the EEAA Board especially in its advocacy program. EEAA Chief Executive, Joyce DiMascio commended the leadership and focus that Matt Pearce had brought to the Association. “Matt has played a leading role in sharpening the focus of the Association over recent years. He has contributed generously to the volunteer Board and helped to build the effectiveness of the Association.” she said tahit.. Under the rules of the Association, Matt Pearce has served two terms, plus an additional one year to lend strategic direction and advocacy support around the closure of Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre (SCEC) at Darling Harbour. He was re-elected to the Board. In 2012, EEAA was the lead association in representing the exhibition and events sector in negotiations with the NSW Government in relation to the impacts of the closure of the SCEC. Last Wednesday, EEAA was advised by Infrastructure NSW that negotiations with the preferred supplier of temporary exhibition facilities at Glebe Island, had been terminated. The EEAA has taken the lead to ensure the NSW Government delivers on its commitment to build an interim facility at Glebe Island by January 2014. Sarah Hawthorn, Avviso did not stand for re-election and Gary Daly, ETF who replaced Jodie Richmond till the election is no longer a member of the new Board. Outgoing President, Matt Pearce paid tribute to all Board members for their contribution to the work of the association.
