By his own admission, Nick Small, is someone only a mother could love. Such is his sense of humour, and that aussie larrikin banter combined with his skill around a camp oven on an open fire is what endears him to thousands of fans across Australia.

Ranger Nick, as he is affectionately known, is the real deal when it comes to cooking up a storm in a camp oven. He walks the audience through how to make the fire, what wood is best to use, what sort of camp oven to use, how to prepare it and clean it and then the fun part, what to cook in it. He says that it can be a lot of fun.

“I tell everyone to get the whole family involved and they’ll thank you for it. Help set up the fire and then dream up your own special recipe. Everything from wallaby stew to rum scones will be discussed and joked about along with random verses of poetry and a bit of yodelling so make sure you bring the whole gang ‘cause I want to meet the lot of ‘em”, he said.

Other entertainment at the event will include a 4×4 training and demonstration track, tourism talks and ideas in the main pavilion and a free animal farm for kids. The event details along with entertainment times and content, prizes to win, exhibitor details and a site map will be in the Event Guide which will be inserted into the Gold Coast Bulletin this Saturday 22nd July. Extra copies will be available at the entry gates every day of the event.

The Gold Coast Midyear Caravan and Camping Expo and Home and Outdoor Living Show is on at the Gold Coast Turf Club, 28-30 July 2017. The event web site is
