NSW Supports PACIFIC 2017

The organisers of the PACIFIC 2017 International Maritime Exposition have welcomed the inclusion of the New South Wales government as a Principal Sponsor of the event.

The Defence NSW stand will showcase the capabilities of some of the most innovative companies in the state,PACIFIC CEO Ian Honnery said.

In all there will be no fewer than twelve hi tech defence organisations from NSW including from the key defence clusters of Sydney, Hunter Valley and the South Coast.

Director of Defence NSW Commodore Peter Scott CSC RANR said the three day event will promote the NSW defence sector to more than 500 companies from 21 countries.

It’s a significant platform for Defence NSW to promote and drive outcomes from New South Wales: Strong, Smart and Connected, the NSW Government’s Defence and Industry Strategy, including getting small and medium sized enterprises better engaged with global defence businesses” he said.

Mr Honnery said since its inception 17 years ago the biennial event has continued to grow in terms of industry and government participation as well as prestige and importance.

As a technology showcase for Australia and the Indo-Asia-Pacific region it is second to none.

It offers a unique networking and learning opportunity and is a direct conduit to many of the key decision makers in naval defence and the maritime industry.

The 2015 event was hailed an outstanding success.

Key outcomes included:-

  • A record 494 participating exhibiting companies from 22 countries
  • Total visitations of 14,979
  • 51 official foreign delegations, many of which were naval delegations at Chief of Navy level
