POLITICAL AND BUSINESS LEADERS ON STAGE FOR EEAA GOLD AND PLATINUM PARTNERS ROUND-TABLEBy Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia, 29 October, 2014MEDIA RELEASE 29 October 2014 POLITICAL AND BUSINESS LEADERS ON STAGE FOR EEAA GOLD AND PLATINUM PARTNERS ROUND-TABLE An impressive line-up of leaders from political and business life addressed the 2014 EEAA Gold and Platinum Partner Round-Table in Sydney last week. The Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) brought together two top political leaders – CEO & Managing Director of Barton Deakin, Matt Hingerty, and Managing Director of Hawker Britton, Simon Banks – and two business leaders, Paul Constantinou, Chairman of new EEAA Gold Member – Quest Serviced Apartments, and Harvey Lister, Chairman and Chief Executive of AEG Ogden. EEAA Chief Executive, Joyce DiMascio, said the Association’s Gold and Platinum Partners were treated to a detailed appraisal of the current political landscape and what it means for the world of business events. “This annual gathering of the biggest investors in the Association provided an opportunity to hear from two of the sharpest political analysts in the country. This year we added an extra layer of commentary from two outstanding business leaders who are passionate about the events sector,” said Ms DiMascio. “Matt Hingerty and Simon Banks have outstanding political pedigree – one Coalition aligned and the other Labor aligned. Both provided a round-up on the performance of the Abbott Government in its first year and then commented on the state-of-play for forthcoming State elections around the country. “The combination of this insightful analysis with remarks from two major investors in hotels and venues made for a fascinating forum.” Matt Hingerty who is now also the Chairman of Business Events Council Australia and Simon Banks, also spoke about the impacts of the “New Senate” and the first Hockey/Abbott budget. “We were pleased to host this special Round-Table for our Members and to give them an opportunity to learn from our impressive panel. “It is important to recognise those Members who contribute to the success of the Association and who continue to give back to our industry – this event was held especially for of Gold and Platinum Partners.” Attendees were also given an update on how EEAA was tracking against its five-year strategy presented to Members at the same event last year. “The Association is in good shape and we remain committed to achieving growth of the exhibition and event industry,” said EEAA President, Domenic Genua. “We have had some big wins in terms of advocating on behalf of our Members for new infrastructure and opportunities to do business. “The continued support of Government shows a growing recognition of the contribution exhibitions and events make to economic development, trade and export, employment and visitation,” he said. He said the Association was on course in delivering its five-year strategy and he thanked the EEAA Gold and Platinum partners for their support. They are:Platinum Partners: Diversified Communications Australia, Dockside Group, International Convention Centre Sydney / Sydney Exhibition Centre @ Glebe Island, Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre, Reed Exhibitions Australia and Sydney Showground.
