RX Australia wins first RX Global Operations AwardBy Reed Exhibitions, 23 June, 2014RX Australia Operations has won the 2014 RX Global Operations Award for its seamless transition of the Reed Gift Fair from Sydney Exhibition Centre to a new temporary home on Glebe Island. The RX Global Operations Award is a new annual award, conceived by Operations for Operations, to demonstrate Reed’s commitment to operational excellence and reward outstanding performance. The RXA Ops team – Rob McIndoe, Christiane Beck, Tom McAlister and Brad Wheeler – were presented with their award by RX Chairman Mike Rusbridge at a special award dinner during the annual RX Operations meeting which took place in Cannes from 11-12 June. Why RXA Operations wonThe closure of the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre (SCEC) for redevelopment, and the relocation of events to the temporary SEC Glebe Island, was a major challenge for the exhibition industry of Australia. RXA Ops worked closely with Infrastructure NSW as part of a shared commitment to keep the city’s exhibition industry ‘Open for Business’. Reed Gift Fairs February was the first event to be staged in the new, temporary facility – a pavilion-style, fully-serviced 20,000sqm space (with optional 5,000sqm & outdoor space). Not only did the RXA team plan, communicate, manage and deliver a highly successful event, but more importantly their infectious enthusiasm and support lifted the morale across the whole site. The results speak for themselves: Reed Gift Fairs Sydney February was delivered on time and on budgetMove-in and move-out were seamless and actually completed ahead of time, despite the new venue and challenging weather conditions18,000+ people over five days, 1 in 5 of whom were first time visitorsExhibitor, visitor, supplier and venue feedback on the RXA Ops team was overwhelmingly positiveExhibitor satisfaction (mean rating) 2nd highest in 5 yearsHigher % of exhibitors are extremely/very likely to book next year than for the last 5 years Submitting the Award, Debbie Evans, President, RX South East Asia/Australia said: “RXA Operations delivered a solution for our visitors, exhibitors and the show team that was seen as setting the standard by the venue, government and the industry. The visitor and exhibitor feedback was strong and RXA are being asked to advise the industry on the best way forward for the venue.” For more information contact Rob McIndoe.
