(SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA) 26 February 2015 – This time last year, an unmistakable adrenalin rush permeated the Sydney Exhibition Centre @ Glebe Island ([email protected]) as the venue team prepared to host its very first show.

The inaugural event at the then brand new venue was a major trade show of world-leading event organiser, Reed Exhibitions – the Reed Gift Fairs Sydney February. It was a winning show and it has just wrapped a second successful year at [email protected]

Held 20-24 February, Reed Gift Fairs Sydney February 2015 attracted over 16,000 visitors, many of whom took advantage of the summer weather and enjoyed the free ferry shuttles to and from Glebe Island and Darling Harbour. Nearly 500 exhibitors showcased the new products and trends for 2015 in gifts, stationary/cards and toys and gadgets, homewares and decor, kitchen and tableware, fashion accessories and jewellery across the Centre’s five halls.

“Last year, the unknown factors of an ‘untested’ venue quickly became wow factors once our exhibitors and show visitors experienced the superb advantages offered by our new space,” said Stephen Steenson, Reed Gift Fairs Exhibition Director.

“This year the vibe for many was about ‘returning home’, with the same advantages – harbourside location close to the city centre, unique space filled with natural light and outstanding support from the [email protected] team – plus ongoing enhancements to the transport services between the venue and the city locations contributing to our repeat success. Familiarity with the venue for everyone involved has been a big plus.”

NSW Deputy Premier Troy Grant said that [email protected] has done well in its first year of operations ensuring Sydney’s exhibitions continue to thrive and generate economic benefits for the larger community during the construction of ICC Sydney at Darling Harbour.

“Glebe Island has provided the continuity that our exhibition industry needed, keeping trade activity and jobs in Sydney, while the new world-class convention, exhibition and entertainment precinct is built,” Mr Grant said.

“Sydney is the most compelling choice for major business events in Australia, and from Glebe Island, trade show organisers and exhibitors will be able to transition seamlessly back to Darling Harbour when ICC Sydney opens in December 2016.”

During its first 12 months of event activity, including this latest event, [email protected] successfully hosted 19 events, welcomed over 3,100 exhibitors and attracted more than 216,000 visitors to the Centre.

“It’s a thrill to open our 2015 season with Reed Gift Fairs Sydney February. This time around it’s great to bask in all the buzz and energy of the Fair with renewed confidence on our capabilities,” said [email protected] General Manager Malu Barrios.

“Even as an interim facility, we set about delivering events to the world-class expectations of a permanent venue with a first-rate team, seamless operations, and a ‘partner centric’ approach with our clients and suppliers. This attitude has worked well for us, we’re looking forward to a bigger and better year!”
