Time’s running out for the RAS Foundation’s Community Kitchen Grant Applications

By Sydney Olympic Park, 18 January, 2018

Rural and regional community groups have until February 4, 2018 to apply to win a kitchen valued at $30,000 through the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS) Foundation Community Kitchen Grant.

The RASF Community Kitchen Grant sees top of the range Euromaid Kitchen appliances, used by celebrity chefs in the Woolworths Fresh Food Dome’s Theatre Kitchen at the Sydney Royal Easter Show donated to a community group or organisation in rural or regional NSW.

Eligible organisations include community centres, welfare groups, churches, service or sporting clubs and show societies.

“The kitchen is the engine room of every home and community and what better way to help an organisation out than through the donation of a commercial grade kitchen to a worthy town,” RAS Foundation Executive Officer Cecilia Logan said today.

“We are delighted to be able to again be partnered with Euromaid to offer state of the art appliances to a deserving rural or regional NSW community,” Ms Logan said.

2017 winner, Boggabri Showground and Public Trust had this to say about their welcome addition;

“We are thrilled to pieces and our kitchen has been used many times already for a reunion, pony camps and a country music evening, monthly for children for pony club for which they have lunches prepared in our new organised kitchen.

“What an achievement we have for our small community.

“We are now trying to raise money to enclose and upgrade our pavilion that houses this kitchen.

2017 Runner-up, Mendooran Showground Trust is equally thrilled with their donated Euromaid appliances (picture attached);

“Mendooran thrives on community spirit and we rely heavily on our showground to hold events that get the whole town together.

“Your generous donation has meant that we have been able to fit out the kitchen and can now advertise as a fully functioning commercial kitchen, the use of which is appreciated by everyone. We will now hold larger functions and in time grow the use of the new facility to include 21st’s and weddings and many other functions that will, we believe, have a lasting impact on our town”.

Applications close 4 February 2018 and the recipients will be announced during the 2018 Sydney Royal Easter Show.
